Dear Bass Campers,
It is with great sadness that we announce Bass Camp 2022 will not be going ahead this year.
Firstly we want to assure all ticket holders that a full refund will be processed as soon as possible and that we appreciate your patience as we work through the cancellation process. Refunds will be applied automatically over the next couple of weeks, please bear with us on this as this can take some time to reach your bank account.
Obviously, this is not the news we wanted to deliver so close to gates opening but we have made the decision now so that we can ensure ticket holders receive 100% of their money back. The last thing any of the team wanted was to compromise on the support we have received from the local community by putting ticket holders’ money at risk.
Yes, Bass Camp is a commercial event, but it’s also a passion project for the team who work behind the scenes, so this news is obviously deeply saddening for those involved.
Why cancel? It’s what seems to be the common driving factor for a lot of cancellations at the moment – Covid.
Throughout the entire event planning process, Covid and it’s subsequent requirements like vaccination mandates, border closure/opening/delays, the use of masks and density limits have all had a lingering effect on the event. As a team we have worked tirelessly to steer this event through the requirements, and whilst we were ‘legislatively’ approved to go ahead, key operational concerns arose which could not be ignored.
Covid is also creating a lot of wider consumer uncertainty. People are reducing their potential exposure in higher risk environments, considering their in-person attendance in more detail and ultimately, the whole entertainment industry (along with others) is seeing more ‘wait and see’ purchasing decisions.
So with ever-escalating cases, a concern for the safety and welfare of staff, volunteers and ticket holders pre, during and post the event, Covid has pushed the event to a breaking point. It is both of these direct and indirect cause and effects that are having a big impact on all events, and that includes Bass Camp.
On a wider note – we would encourage everyone to consider how they can support local events and artists during this difficult time – we know that some will not be able to survive and so if you want to see, experience and attend future events, your support now is very important. If you wish to assist Bass Camp please get in contact with us directly.
We again apologise to those who were looking forward to spending the long weekend with us, we’re truly disappointed not to be able to bring to you what we had planned.
This is not the end for Bass Camp – we will of course be looking to deliver another event and we hope that you will join us.
Please keep safe and look out for yourselves and each other during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing you next time
Bass Camp Team
